Lyrics

I went abroad last May, off for a holiday
I went to England then over to France
Jumped down to Belgium while I had a chance
When I left the train that day
I strolled all alone away

CHORUS
I went down from Brussels town to Waterloo
I saw where the bullets flew at Waterloo
I stood where Napoleon his sword he drew
To do or die or fly from Waterloo
And there I met a pretty Belgian maid
With eyes of blue, sweet eyes of blue
I stopped a while to listen to her “parley-vous”
And like the great Napoleon, what did I do?
I met my fate way down in Waterloo

VERSE 2
She took me by surprise, she won me with her eyes
Couldn’t advance and I couldn’t retreat
She threw a glance and I fell at her feet
So she took revenge on me,
For Wellington’s victory
