Lyrics
1. Johnny Jones was known as a real model boy
He was mother’s pride, and father’s joy
Till the day that he met sweet Suzette, so gay
When she tried to steal his heart away
He would say
Chorus:
Not yet, Suzette, you’re going too far
Not yet, Suzette, or I’ll tell my ma
Though your wink I think is naughty but nice
Each time you begin it, my heart beats a mile a minute
Stop, Suzette, my head’s a daze
I’ll soon forget my innocent ways
I declare, a man ain’t safe now-a-days
No, no, not yet, Suzette, not yet
2. Johnny Jones got weaker and weaker each day
He kept slipping fast, until at last
When she said, “We’ll soon have a cute little home”
And the cutest youngster all our own
Johnny moaned
Chorus:
Not yet, Suzette, you’re going too far
Not yet, Suzette, or I’ll tell my ma
Since we met, Suzette, I’m awfully upset
And I’d even bet you’re just a girl that men forget
Although you know I’m gentle and kind
If you could read my thoughts you would find
I’d be shot for what I’ve got on my mind
No, no, not yet, Suzette, not yet
