Lyrics

I’ll tell you of two friends of mine
McGinty and McGuire
Who’d fight in any hallway
If their temper was on fire
Went ‘round a famous building
On a very windy day
McGinty being awful thin
It carried him away
McGuire saw him rising
Just as though he’d reach the sky
Says he, “Now that’s surprising
That he never said goodbye”
When he reached the roof in safety
Faith his shoes came down instead
McGuire he got crazy
When they struck him on the head
And this is what he said

Chorus:
“Come down McGinty
I’ll whip you where I’m standing
“Come down McGinty
Yes, come down from that landing
I’ll whip you, I’ll not kick you
But I’ll break your back
You Mick you, if you come down
Come down here McGinty

2. It seems it all passed over
With McGinty and McGuire
They both were soon in clover
For to work was their desire
They were working in a quarry
Where the men were blasting rocks
Where during dinner hour
They were seated on a box
McGuire started smoking
Then the match he threw away
It struck some blasting powder
Faith I’ll ne’er forget the day
It blew McGinty in the air
Says Mc, “I think that’s wrong
For him to treat me so unfair
And take my lunch along”
And he shouted loud and strong
