Lyrics
1. In a wood cutter’s hut so far away
There, two children used to play
The girl was called Mytyl
The boy’s name was Tyltyl
Children very much like you
Faces pretty, eyes of blue
Playing there the whole day through
In a house across the way
There lived a little maid
And she was ill so very ill
And they were sore dismayed
If they could find the bluebird
It would bring her happiness
Through every hill and meadow
They searched without success
And when the evening shadows dimmed the sky
They watched to see the bluebird homeward fly
Refrain:
Like Mytyl and Tyltyl, I’m looking for the bluebird
To bring me happiness again
Like Mytyl and Tyltyl, I’m searching each hill
‘Till I fear it’s all in vain
And when the summer twilight closes
I look in vain among the roses
Like Mytyl and Tyltyl I’m looking for the bluebird
To bring me happiness again
2. Until on a moonlit Christmas Eve
Fast asleep would you believe
This girl they called Mytyl
This boy they called Tyltyl
All the room was filled with light
Through the darkness, shining bright
Came the Fairy Berylune
With her magic wand she summoned “Fire”
To help them find the bluebird
To bring happiness to them, and all mankind
With her wand she called on “Water”
And as guide the “Goddess of Light”
They searched The Land of Memory
The Past, The Realm of Night
And then, returning home in dark despair
They found the bluebird they’ve been seeking, there
