Lyrics

  1. You sail away from New York Bay
    To cross the briny sea
With heavy heart it’s hard to part
    From dear Miss Liberty
The sight is grand, with light in hand
She guides you on your way
And as you leave old New York Town
You turn to her and say

Chorus
“Good bye, Miss Liberty! light of my heart, farewell
The true love I bear for you, no Yankee heart can tell
Light me safely on my way, o’er the deep blue sea
Till I return to you, and the “Old Red, White, and Blue”
Good bye, Miss Liberty!”

  1. When out of sight of that old light
    In foreign lands you roam
You know she’s there to guard with care
The ones you love at home
So proud to greet each Yankee fleet
    That enters New York Bay
And that’s just why, while sailing by
Each boy in blue will say
