From the 1940 film “Buck Benny Rides Again”
Words by Frank Loesser
Music by Jimmy McHugh
The sheet music:
Lyrics
Yonder sky bright and clear
Shining for me
Heaven is near
Say can you see?
Refrain:
There lies my kind of country
‘Round that last bend we’re headin’ for
Old timer stay with me and tonight we’ll see
My kind of country once more
There lives my kind of people
Where that sundown smiles bright and red
Old timer I’ll strike gold when these eyes behold
My kind of country ahead
Travel home, travel home
Maybe nine more miles, maybe ten
May I ever grieve if I ever leave
My kind of country again
