Words and music by Helen Church and Martha Baird Allen
The sheet music:
Lyrics
1. Wendell Willkie is the man we want for President
Wendell Willkie is the man to win, it’s evident
For the right he’ll always stand
And he will unite our land
For our leader he is meant
Chorus:
We want Willkie! We want Willkie!
We the People all agree
We want Willkie! We want Willkie!
He’ll protect our liberty
We want Willkie! We need Willkie!
He will lead to victory
We want Wendell Willkie for our next President
2. Wendell Willkie is the man whose courage will not fail
Wendell Willkie is the man who’ll weather ev’ry gale
He is fair to friend and foe
To the White House he must go
He’s the man we soon will hail
3. Wendell Willkie is the man who hates dictators all
Wendell Willkie is the man they never will appal
He will build up our defense
Using Hoosier common sense
Till we’re ready for them all
