zz Fred Feild interview

Penny:
As the creator of Sheet Music Singer, what would you like subscribers to know?

Fred:
That this project locates sheet music and records each song with vocals. These are almost all found online and are free because they are in the public domain.

Penny:
How is the music processed?

Fred:
Using the pages, we clean the covers, crop the music into panels, and type the lyrics.

Penny:
Oh! the lyrics are my favorite part. I like to read all the verses in the song description.
How are the songs recorded?

Fred:
The notes are put into midi format using a computer. Vocals are then added. Every step of this process can be done with free software.

Penny:
What is done with the song?

Fred:
A video is made that displays the cropped music panels as the song is heard. The video is put online as soon as it is completed.

Penny:
The result is very enjoyable.

Fred:
Yes, very! The songs are interesting and in most cases very good quality.

Penny:
What is the future of this project?

Fred:
We are already giving new life to lots of historic sheet music. Our different projects each have a separate blog.

Penny:
Like what?

Fred:
Like the 1922 project, the African-American songs, and the Greatest American Standards project.
