Lyrics

1. In a boudoir lived a little old night cap, so lonely
One that Granny loved in the days of yore
Underneath an old chair lived a very old pair
Worn out slippers dad wore before the war
Every night a conversation these two relics hold
What the night cap tells the slipper is a tale of old

Chorus:
Beware of pink pajamas
I think that pink pajamas
Have a meaning all their own
When you say “nighty, nighty”
They start in acting flighty
Better let the pink alone
Trust in the white ones
They’re the right good-night ones
Blue ones are true ones
And beside at eventide, better be aware of
No, I don’t mean a pair of pink pajamas
But the girlie inside

2. In that boudoir hung an old-fashioned nightgown, neglected
Listening to the story the night cap told
With its ribbons faded, left where grandma laid it
In the days when nighties were not so bold
All its faded “fol-de-rols” were blushing rosy red
Seemed as if it understood all that the night cap said
