Lyrics

Seems no matter where you’re going
If the sun shines or it’s snowing
You will find a band a-playing
Ev’rybody ’round a-swaying
To a syncopated, razzy jazzying tune
Where the cornet player acts just like a loon
Never cared myself for dancing
For that so outlandish prancing
So, I thought I’d take my sweetie
To a quiet, restful spot
‘Twas an ice-cream soda parlor
Now starts the plot
Someone dropped a nickel in the slot
The ice-cream started a-melting
No one cared what happened to it
While they danced, they all forgot it
While they pranced, kept on a-swaying
Here and there, without care, they went
The ices turned into water
And the soda pop grew fizzless
Still they whirled
It seems they danced and couldn’t stop
All through a little nickel in the slot

Refrain
Nobody seemed to tire
It just seemed their one desire was to keep on
And my sweetie looked so forlorn, looking on
I took and drew her near me
Whispering “All right, my dearie
We’ll do it, too, stay until it’s through
You like it? You like it? I’ll like it too”
